A Brand New Day

September 2024 approaches fast and a brand new day – my countdown to retirement is at 51 weeks now.

A Brand New Day

In today’s blog post I’ll be talking about the new drawing of a line in the sand.

I had attempted this blog post back in May but it never got published so I’m just cleaning it up to publish it now.

Drawing a Line in the Sand – I Mean it This Time

Given that I used to have a very small budget – all I used to be able to afford was about five bucks USD a day. I’ll get there again.

If you talk to my accountant, he would tell you I have no bucks to spend per day – but I’ll pick that up again anyways because I’m quite sure I can do well with the Facebook Lead ads – eventually.

I had been fortunate enough to have a well enough paying job for about the 14 years preceeding January of 2021.

My mentor in this make money online niche even says in his book that when folks start out – a common goal that they seek is to make $10,000 per month.

I had that. My Business actually pulled that in as I worked as a volumetric reporting specialist in the oil and gas industry.

Check out my About Me page – it lays it out well.

With the help of my accountant – I paid off student loans – I was like 50 when that happened – and I was able to start building some retirement funds while at the same time being able to afford a few trips to tropical climates per year.

And at the same time, I was understanding how making some extra money online would help me out as I got closer to retirement.

I spent quite a few bucks trying all sorts of business models out, including…

…an ecommerce store with shopify. I tried drop-shipping. I did cost per action (CPA) marketing by email. And I even got into a very expensive venture with affiliate marketing using Google and Microsoft Ads with YouTube Videos.

All for naught – and that was all mostly when I was still fully employed.

Now that I’m very close to retirement with minimal money coming in, I was quite happy that my surfing efforts brought me to this book called The Iceberg Effect.

And THAT I believe is when I began having a change of heart and that what I was reading in that book made real sense.

Now jumping ahead about 8 months, I am in the thick of things with mentorship and coaching that appears to me – to be top of the line. But the leadership – they are just every day folks just a few steps ahead of me.

Some of you have been with me from the beginning and others have just joined after liking my sponsored Facebook post and wanting to watch the video that me and my newspaper delivery guy were telling you about.

For many of you the headline that you read was:
[FREE 10 MIN. VIDEO] How Even Beginners Replace a Full-time Income in Today’s Economy.

Earlier this year, I said I’d notifiy you when my blog was ready regarding my Facebook lead ad being rejected.

And you can read that blog post here:

We’re not gonna take it!

But I’m here to apologize.

I mean like – who am I to be telling you that affiliate marketing can replace a full-time income – when I haven’t done so myself.

I feel that I am on the right track to do so but at this point, all I can do is to tell you about the journey I am taking.

I can tell you about the tools that I am using.

And I can let you know what I’m learning, what I like, and what I don’t like.

So, I’m basically saying I am drawing a line in the sand.

On a Mission

I’m on a mission. One to turn my life around.

It was a hard decision to make but I finally agreed that it was time to file for bankruptcy.

See my last post with more on that.

Now I start from square one again.

One step at a time.

But to be completely honest, I am not starting from nothing.

You may have to catch up.

I already have a domain or two; hosting for the domains; I have a blog or two; And I have a couple of emailing systems – one of which is still not available to the general public (more on the Affiliate System later).

If you’d like to follow this journey of mine, I’d be quite pleased to have you follow me here on my RobertKleinOnline blog.

And the best way to get notifications is to get onto my SoapboxBob Email List.

I’m working my way back up. There is only looking up and it is my hope that I can help you out in your journey to entrepreneurship. And thereby avoiding the hardship of bankruptcy yourself.

And if I can work myself up from bankruptcy, surely you can work your way up no matter what financial situation you are starting from.

The Mission This Week

As part of the Affiliate System, I am working my way through the new and improved Beginners Advantage trainings.

I am in the stages of completing Module 5 which outlines the Beginners Advantage Traffic system.

Even though it is strongly suggested to go with the TikTok platform, there are others that are mentioned I have decided to go with YouTube.

I’ve had an account with YouTube since 2007 but I’ve not really posted much until recent.

So besides my organic traffic strategy of blog hopping I will be on task this week to finish off the Beginners Advantage Module 5 with some preparations.

I intend on taking notes of the competion and populating a spreadsheet with some numbers I hope to crunch in an effort to come up with general statements about my competition…

…numbers like how often do they post, number of followers and what types of videos get the most views and engagement.

And as I go through that process, I’ll make a list of possible videos I could make.

Conclusion

I’ve reached this low place in my life financially. I am working on rebuilding as I certainly do not want to sit in the wallows of doom and gloom.

My journey is to recover from bankruptcy to the point of reaching sustainable profits as an affiliate marketer.

I’ll work hard to be the best I can be and I invite you to follow along.

I do anticipate a delimma however.

I do well with creating faceless videos but I anticipate there just won’t be enough time in the week to record myself live – given some personal limitations.

Case in point was this past week. I created a script for myself; recorded each sentence or phrase separately; and also recorded the entire script. I did not like any of the results as it appeared to me that I would be spending too much time editing abd re-recording.

So to get a video short out quick I prepared an audio file of my AI voice narrator Jasper and I used that track to come up with this video short in reasonable time: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_Y8BX2NGLcw

Please let me know in the comments what your preference might be for making videos:

Videos with a real voice; or videos with an AI Voice like Jasper’s…

  1. Hi, Bob! Congratulations on drawing your line in the sand! I wish you the best of luck for the coming year! I prefer actual people doing videos rather than AI voices. They are so common, I just skip over them. I bet your personalized videos are much better than you think they are. But whichever way you go, I’m sure you’ll succeed as people follow your footprints to success!

  2. I would prefer seeing and hearing YOU! It isn’t hard. It gets so easy the more you do it! Like Nakina said, the AI voice over (Jasper) sounds automated. YOU are who we want to see!!

Nevertheless, please continue! We are waiting to see what you do!!

  3. Hi Bob, Here’s to moving forward! I also prefer actual to automated. I used to have the hardest time even listening to my own recorded voice, it does get easier!

  4. Hi Bob,

Thanks for sharing your journey so openly. For video content, both real and AI voices have their pros. Real voices add a personal touch, while AI voices can be more efficient. Your audience will likely appreciate whatever approach you choose, as long as the content is valuable. Personally, I prefer listening to a real person rather than AI generated voices.

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

  5. Hello – Thank you for being courageous to tell your story and for giving hope to not only yourself but to those who might be in a similar situation. We’re all rooting for you and rooting four ourselves at the same time as we dig into this online business. Reinventing yourself and starting over is not a bad thing when a vision is established. I look forward to your blog posts each week and to receiving your emails. Have a great week, my friend!

  6. Hey Bob,
You can clone your own voice. If you go to ElevenLabs, you can clone your own voice after completing a 2—to 3-minute reading and upload that to whatever video editor you’re using. That way, you won’t have to use someone else’s voice. I’ve done it when I want to do a faceless video, and it works pretty darn well.
Also, you could use a teleprompter app on your phone to do face videos. I use one in particular that also corrects for eye contact. It’s pretty expensive at $99 per six months, though, but for me, it is worth it. There are other apps out there, too, that are much less expensive. You’re doing GREAT! We’ve got your back. Bravo to you!
